There are many great and fun resources on the web these days for kids to learn about environmental issues and here I showcase just a few that I think are excellent and focus on climate change.
First is the Ecofriendz game for PC and Mac that you can down load for free. It has the cutest characters and I know it has been a huge hit with my 6 year old nephew who has played it heaps.
Next up some of the cutest most eco friendly bears on the planet EcoBears. A must check out if you are looking buy something special for your kids or kids of your friends or relatives and there is a great video game to play.
I have also listed some links to excellent YouTube videos that have made very good attempts at how to explain the complex science of the greenhouse effect. I will be regularly adding content to this resource page and hopefully soon I will be able to resolve why I cannot have the YouTube videos viewable on this page.
EcoFriendz kids game
EcoFriendz is an educational climate change game sponsored by the government of the Republic of Korea and is co-developed by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), the UNEP Korea, and NHN. The environment related information provided in the game has been supervised by the UNEP and can be trusted.
EcoFriendz shows the children of the world how to effectively deal with abnormal temperatures and global warming. Isn’t it exciting to think that children can receive environmental education just by playing a game? Children can test themselves against 22 ecofriendly missions with our friends Waddy and Harty! It’s even more fun to enjoy the game with their friends.
EcoFriendz is a very light game that is not greatly affected by PC requirement. Unless the PC is 10 years or older, there should be no problem playing the game. However, Flash version 10 or higher is required to play the game. If Flash version 10 or higher is not installed on the computer, please follow the guide to download and install it on your computer.
EcoFriendz is a single player casual game where the child attempts to complete each mission as fast as possible while reducing carbon emissions by planting trees. There are various missions for each stage, but overall the player is required to do 5 things:
1. Planting and watering trees.
2. Building.
3. Earning coins.
a. Coins produced by buildings.
b. Rewards for solving environment quiz questions.
4. Upgrading toward an eco-friendly establishment.
5. Getting rid of loggers.

Teddy Bears have an eco friendly picnic – Meet the EcoBears

A very special and passionate lady is the creator of these beautiful bears. She donated one to WWF International, Miss WWF Climate Bear who I had the pleasure of meeting in person to make sure she travelled safely to the UNFCCC Climate Talks in Copenhagen December 2009.
